How local governments can reduce drug and alcohol abuse
Violence, property damage, litter, injuries and road crashes are just some of the daily harsh realities that face communities and local governments in the aftermath of public alcohol intoxication and illicit drug use.
The latest DrugInfo seminar, to be held on Thursday 11 October at the State Library of Victoria Conference Centre, will examine the issue of drug and alcohol use.
The interactive seminar will discuss the themes arising from the upcoming DrugInfo newsletter and Prevention Research Quarterly, ‘Under the influence: What local governments can do to reduce drug and alcohol related harms in their communities’.
The seminar’s discussion panel includes:

- Dr Peter Streker, Director, Community Stars, Victoria;
- Bonnie Rosen, Principal, Symplan Urban and Social Planners;
- Michael Livingston, Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR), Turning Point Alcohol & Drug Centre;
- Anne Malloch, Team Leader City Issues, City of Melbourne.
