Call for comment: offshore oil and gas draft policy
The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources has released a draft framework policy for consultation, as part of the Offshore Oil and Gas Safety Review. All stakeholders involved in or affected by the Review are encouraged to provide a submission. The draft framework outlines the Department’s proposed policy approach, which forms part of its commitment to continuous regulatory improvement for the safety of workers involved in offshore oil and gas activities in Commonwealth waters.
The draft framework was developed following consultation with the offshore workforce, industry, government agencies and unions. The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources also considered submissions received in response to its Offshore Oil and Gas Safety Review discussion paper.
Stakeholder input will be used to refine and improve the framework, and help the Department provide a leading-practice framework for securing the health, safety and welfare of offshore oil and gas workers. The draft policy framework is available on the Department’s Consultation Hub. Submissions will be open until 29 October 2020.
