Apprentices to get half-price rego

Thursday, 12 November, 2015

Trade apprentices in Victoria will soon benefit from a new half-price registration scheme starting next year.

The first round of registration renewal notices will soon be issued, outlining the steps for eligible trade apprentices to take advantage of the state government’s discount for apprentices.

From 1 January, apprentices paying standard registration on a light vehicle in metropolitan Melbourne will save $385.70 per year, while apprentices in regional Victoria, including Bendigo and Ballarat, will save $330.20.

Bricklayers, carpenters, joiners, electricians and plumbers are among those eligible if their employer can verify that the use of their vehicle is an essential part of their work.

The Victorian Government said almost 20,000 apprentices enrolled in eligible trade courses will be able to take advantage of this discounted rego.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for the discount as soon as they receive their renewal notice.
