Applications open for WorkCover Qld safety prevention competition
Applications are now open to businesses with innovative safety projects to prevent workplace injuries in Queensland.
Up to 75% of the winner’s project costs will be covered by WorkCover to the value of $20,000.
The inaugural Prevention and Performance Initiative, recently launched by WorkCover, aims to improve safety within Queensland workplaces, reduce workplace injury claims and associated costs, as well as improve return to work opportunities and outcomes for injured workers.
Employers with wages over $1.5 million, or an innovative employer association or union, are encouraged to apply.
WorkCover Queensland Chief Executive Officer Tony Hawkins said the Prevention and Performance Initiative is a great opportunity for businesses to kick start innovative projects which can prevent injuries and reduce workers compensation premium costs.
“This initiative is a great example of WorkCover’s commitment to helping businesses strengthen their safety cultures by putting a positive focus on injury prevention and safer workplace practices,” Hawkins said.
“Every day, we’re helping employers and injured workers refine their injury management practices because we are passionate about making a difference by working in partnership with our customers.”
Applications will close on Wednesday, 30 September 2015.
