Ai Group holds round table on proposed national OHS law
The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) held a roundtable discussion for South Australian members on 12 October on the proposed harmonisation of national OHS laws.
“Employers want the safest workplaces but don’t want nine different approaches spread between the states and territories,” Ai Group SA Director Stephen Myatt said. “Safety is too important to have the distraction and uncertainly of state differences.
“Ai Group members covered by the proposed laws will have an opportunity to comment on the draft and identify any practical issues that may arise in implementing the new regime.
“Ai Group will be consulting with our members in all states on the practical implications of the proposals and making a constructive submission to carry this important project on to completion.”
The roundtable discussions follow the decision in September by the Workplace Relations Ministerial Council to approve the release of a draft model national OHS for public comment.
