Using digitisation to streamline construction site safety

Technology is constantly evolving to utilise 21st century innovations, so it stands to reason that worksite processes and equipment should be evolving as well. Using smart technology in the construction industry saves time by minimising repetition, increasing visibility, reducing manual tasks, and proactively alerting personnel to issues. It also improves worker safety by mitigating operational risk and reducing the impact of human error. Protocols can also be introduced to improve process flow and prevent mistakes. Automated monitoring can alert key personnel to equipment failure in real time. Data can be used for ongoing operational improvements and emergency event prevention. Two Australian companies with a focus on digitisation through smart technology have announced a platform integration. HammerTech, a field safety operations platform, and Vanguard Wireless, an emergency system designer and manufacturer, have partnered to support their customers in the implementation of best practice safety measures on every site, regardless of size or location. Now businesses can consolidate all field safety applications — including evacuation and medical alert system operations — into an all-in-one field safety platform. Processes are automated, manual paperwork is minimised, event logs are saved, and safety system amendments are documented, thereby providing visibility across all facets of the site.

Once activated from within the Vanguard Wireless User Portal, the integration pushes a PDF report on the emergency system through to the connected HammerTech project site diary. From their HammerTech portal, businesses can view how their evacuation or nurse call system is performing, with data on devices, users, events, system status and internet stability.

The integration is available now and takes 60 seconds to set up via the Vanguard Wireless User Portal. Systems are integrated between the two platforms on a site-by-site basis, with senior management able to view reports for Vanguard Wireless systems on any HammerTech project.
