Ride on Mower Safety: Updated Augmented Reality Guide Assists the Sporting Amenities Industry

Working in the Sporting Amenities Industry involves a variety of different tasks and daily jobs requiring attention to detail and safety management practices. From operating ride on mowers to working with chemicals used for irrigation, workers must always remain aware of potential hazards and practise safe work methods at all times.

Of the many duties involved, working with ride on mowers pose a significant safety risk. Like quad bikes, where there are constant reoccurring incidents involving injury or death, similar safety precautions must be taken when operating a ride on mower.

Risks involved with ride on mowers include tipping over (particularly when riding on steep or uneven ground), exposed moving parts with the potential to cause harm through entanglement, impact and cutting, radiation, fuel hazards and exposure to noise and vibration, to name a few. It is important that workers are knowledgeable on the safe operating procedures, implementing them with every use.

To help assist with implementing a safety culture within the Sporting Amenities Industry, Pro-Visual Publishing in conjunction with the Sports Turf Associations across Australia and the Turf Growers Association of Australia and NSW have released the 2020/21 edition of the Sporting Amenities Guide to Workplace Safety.
