A seminar broadcast by WorkSafe Victoria provides tips for how to conduct workplace safety inspections.
Three safety inspectors explore ideas on how to engage staff, prioritise areas of high risk, and find solutions to hazards before they cause harm.
Conducting a workplace inspection is an essential business skill, and fundamental to the ongoing safety of workers.
“Talk with your workers directly — they’re probably your biggest asset,” said Ben, a safety inspector with WorkSafe Victoria.
His colleague Damian adds that putting controls in place that eliminate the risk of harm occurring to workers is critical when doing a safety inspection.
“That’s what we look for firstly — can this risk be eliminated?” he said.
