Safety in Australian Food Businesses

Food safety standards place obligations on Australian food businesses to produce food that is safe and suitable to eat. As a result, health and safety knowledge is vital for all workers involved in the industry.

Pro-Visual Publishing, in partnership with Food Standards Australia New Zealand and Australian Food Microbiology, has released the latest edition of the Food Manufacturing Industry Guide to Safety, addressing current health and safety topics, with interactive Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities.

The interactive guide covers a range of topics, such as:

  • Tips for testing as part of a verification program.
  • Food handler hygiene.
  • Receiving food safely.
  • Thermometers and using them with potentially hazardous food.

By displaying the guide in the workplace, workers can refer to the information on-the-go and ensure that safety is kept top of mind. With the element of AR, guides are transformed into a training resource and a portal for further resources relevant to the food manufacturing industry. All resources are accessible via the free Pro-Vis AR app.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Food Manufacturing Industry Guide to Safety 2017/18. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.” — John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
