Sundström PAPRs respirator with IP ratings

Sundström fan-driven respirators have now been issued with IP ratings - a clear way of expressing how resistant equipment is to dust and liquids.

Both the SR500 and SR700 PAPRs (Powered Air-Purifying Respirators) have achieved the same IP67 rating in stringent tests.

‘IP’ stands for ‘Ingress Protection’ and, put simply, signifies how resistant a mechanical or electric casing (such as a plug, socket, jack or connector) is to dry particles and liquids entering the electronics of the device. The IP is followed by two digits, the first representing ingress of solids, ranging from large objects to minute particles. The second digit rates penetration of liquids, spanning from falling raindrops to high-pressure, close-range spray, such as steam cleaning.

Both Sundström respirators were given IP67 ratings: firstly, completely dust-tight, and secondly, resistant to immersion in water to a depth of 1 m for 30 min.
