This system, besides increasing the level of electrical safety in industry, also eliminates the need for the testing aspect of testing and tagging as presently undertaken.
The Safe T Smart Plug is a power point containing an electronic circuit board that is capable of testing earth leakage and earth continuity of any electrical appliance that is plugged into it.
The appliance, whether a hand tool or more permanent piece of electrical equipment, is tested every 10 s.
A major advantage of the Safe T Smart Plug is that equipment is continuously tested under working conditions thus eliminating the long delays between tests that occur with the present testing and tagging system.
Any faults recorded are transmitted to the office PC via the electrical wiring of the building. By using the existing building wiring, the specially written software on the PC can communicate with every Safe T Smart Plug power point installed within a building.
