Driving app aims to change driving behaviour

Thursday, 27 November, 2014

The Netherlands-based software developer Decos has released a driving app called Flo, which is designed to provide drivers with real-time feedback. It automatically records all trips based on GPS data and the device’s motion sensors.

During each trip, the app awards points for good driving, such as smooth acceleration and steady speed, and deducts points for poor driving, including hard braking and driving too fast around corners. The driver can then learn from this feedback and adjust their driving accordingly.

Features include:

  • Trip scoring so drivers can see how well they’ve performed
  • Audio and visual feedback while driving
  • Trip playback in 3D so drivers can see areas for improvement
  • Automatic trip recording, including score, distance, travel time and route

The app can be installed on Android smartphones running Android 4.1 and higher. The launch of an app for iPhones is planned for the first quarter of 2015.
