Prepare for new construction regulations
New regulations for the construction industry will come into effect in early 2008, as part of a national initiative for consistent construction laws across Australia.
The regulations were published in the Government Gazette on 2 October 2007.
The changes introduce requirements covering consultation, planning and documentation, and the provision of information for construction projects.
These changes include the preparation of safe work method statements (JSAs) for high-risk construction work and the preparation of Occupational Safety and Health Management Plans for all construction sites with five or more people working, or likely to be working, at the same time.
