Public comment sought on draft WA safeguarding code
The Commission for Occupational Safety and Health and its Mining Industry Advisory Committee are seeking public comment from interested parties on a draft Code of Practice: Safeguarding of machinery and plant.
According to the commission, guarding is not a new safety requirement and remains the simplest and most effective method to prevent injury from machinery or plant used in mining.
The draft code can be downloaded from www.docep.wa.gov.au/resourcessafety/PDF/Code%20of%20Practice/MSH_COP_Safeguarding.pdf.
Comments on the code can be submitted by 10 October 2008 to the executive officer, Commission for Occupational Safety and Health in person at 5th floor, 1260 Hay Street, West Perth; via post to PO Box 294, West Perth WA 6872; via email to worksafersvp@docep.wa.gov.au; or via facsimile to (08) 9321 2148.
