OHS policies head up today’s election agenda

The New South Wales state election campaign is heating up, with OHS policies topping today's agenda.

Current NSW Minister for Commerce, John Della Bosca made his workplace safety plans clear today, and challenged the Liberal party to reveal its future OHS plans.

Della Bosca used his address at the Unions NSW Annual Safety Delegates conference in Penrith to prompt the Opposition Leader, Peter Debnam to reveal whether or not he would support businesses moving to a national OHS scheme.

Della Bosca then conveyed his opinion that to hand this role to the Commonwealth would result in a lowering of the state's workplace health and safety standards.

"The Commonwealth employs a minimal number of inspectors and is in no position to deliver the services, advice and assistance that businesses need in keeping their workplaces safe," he said.
