Brisbane Breakfast Forum wrap-up

Thank you to the 117 people who attended the NSCA Foundation Brisbane Breakfast Forum on 1 March at Park Regis North Quay. The forum was hosted by NSCA Foundation Chairman and President Bernie Doyle and accompanied by the following panel speakers:

  • Paul Goldsbrough – Executive Director – Safety, Policy and Worker’s Compensation Services at the Office of Industrial Relations
  • Matthew Smith – Partner at Sparke Helmore Lawyers
  • Phillip Walden – Senior WHS Consultant at Greencap

Following a short presentation from each panellist on their key points on contractor management, delegates had the opportunity to ask questions including some key questions:

  • “WHS compliance v due diligence, is there a difference?”
  • “Are there any current trends in contractor specifications in terms of contractor safety?”
  • “What is the difference in level of due diligence when contractors are operating under Queensland legislation but on a site that is Commonwealth owned?”
  • "As a contractor, where does our due diligence lie and what are our rights in asking for similar pre-qualifications of the PC we are working for?”

For answers to these questions and more, access to the audio recordings for NSCA Foundation members can be found HERE. To obtain the password, or if you are a non-member, please contact the NSCA Foundation Membership team on 02 8879 8289 or membership@nsca.org.au.
