Injuries to the hand and wrist are one of the most common work-related injuries sustained in Australia. According to Safe Work Australia, in the 2012-13 financial year there were 116,665 serious claims pertaining to such injuries, and 4031 related to the Australian manufacturing industry alone. It is evident that a safer and more durable glove is needed.

Elliotts has developed the G-Flex range of gloves. They are claimed to be the first ever safety gloves of their type to be certified to the standard AS/NZS2161.3:2005 Occupational protective gloves*, which provides protection against mechanical risks, and European standards.

Certification to AS/NZS2161.3:2005 Occupational protective gloves means that Elliotts has engaged SAI Global, an independent certification body to ensure the following:

  • All test certificates specified in the appropriate standard have been conducted by an accredited third party.
  • The manufacturing facility has undergone auditing to ensure all systems and procedures comply with appropriate standards.
  • Continual annual auditing by the same third party.
  • Products carrying the certification must be retested on a regular basis.

This provides end users and employers with peace of mind that the gloves will provide the protection claimed.

“On most sites in Australia, you cannot wear safety glasses, hard hats, boots, respiratory equipment that is not certified to Australian/ New Zealand standards,” said Elliotts Managing Director Anthony Elliott.

“So why not gloves? This is what led us to developing and certifying the new G-Flex range of gloves. We are all about quality safety gear and are very focused on industry standards, whether Australian or international standards.

“Our company will always go the extra step and get our product certified, ensuring that our customers know that they are receiving the best product and the best protection possible.

“We are excited about the new range but also excited to be the first in the world to certify these types of gloves to Australian/New Zealand standards.”

After a 12-month research and development period to ensure the gloves were manufactured to the highest possible standards, the G-Flex range of gloves is now available to the Australasian market.

The G-Flex range of gloves will become invaluable across numerous applications within the construction, mining, manufacturing, and oil and gas industries, and will be instrumental in cutting down the incidence of hand injuries.

The G-Flex glove range

The G-Flex glove range provides good protection to both the top and the palm of the hand without compromising dexterity or glove function, the range includes:

  • G-Flex T-Touch IMPACT, which incorporates the standard nylon liner and T-Touch coating with the added protection of the heat-bonded K-Guard TPR Exoskeleton Armour for top-of-hand protection.
  • G-Flex Dynamax C5, a comfortable glove offering the highest possible cut resistance of Level 5 with a T-Touch coating.
  • G-Flex Dynamax C5 IMPACT has all the features of the G-Flex Dynamax C5 with the added protection of the heat-bonded K-Guard TPR Exoskeleton Armour for top-of-hand protection.
  • G-Flex Roustabout is a unique glove offering Cut 5 resistance, a nitrile coating for oil and liquid resistance and a T-Touch coating grip.
  • G-Flex Roustabout IMPACT has all the features of the G-Flex Roustabout with the added protection of the K-Guard TPR Exoskeleton Armour for top-of-hand protection.
